TB Sanatorium - Raymond area of WA

Location: Private Residence - Raymond, WA

Weather: Clear skies. Temps in the mid 60’s at the beginning of the investigation dropping to the mid 40’s by investigations end.

Teams arrived about 6:30pm at the private residence. This home was once a TB Sanatorium in the late 1800’s/Early 1900’s before being a nursing home from the 1930’s to the 1950’s finally being sold to the current resident as a private home in the 1960’s.

Current resident lives alone with a daughter that visits regularly for weekends.

The structure is still 95% intact with 2 sunrooms (south & west facing) in excellent condition. Over the doorways to most rooms, the original ward names are still quite visible. There are patient bathrooms, a procedure room area, original nurses station w/ parts still intact and a cold cellar, underneath the procedure area, where bodies were stored until burial. The home also includes a kitchen, living room, 2^nd bathroom and 2^nd bedroom that the client uses as their living spaces. These areas, though part of the original hospital, have no activity according to the home owner.

Activity noted by the home owner is of a couple (man & woman) arguing which seems to come from the south sunroom. This activity is most noted at night and can be heard from both bedrooms, one of which is directly across from the sunroom.

Other activity include a bathrobe that has gone missing from its hook where it always hangs only to reappear days later. Things missing from time to time. Voices heard but can’t be made out.

There are no other homes within eye sight of the resident nor within a quarter mile in either direction.

Client is not afraid of the activity. Curious to know if anything can be found out as to why the activity takes place or who may be causing the activity.

Summary of Investigation: After introductions were made and a tour was given of the location, DVR cameras were placed in four locations: The procedure room, ward one (now a bedroom), the south sun room and the ward hallway. Digital recorders were placed w/ each DVR camera with time codes synchronized to the DVR system. 3 hand-held cameras were used by each investigative team to document happenings. A hand-held IR camera was later placed in the bathroom closest to the shower room on a hunch. This camera had audio so no extra recorder was used with it.

The investigation continued throughout the evening with teams partnering with different members and going to different locations. Everyone tried to switch out locations about every 45minutes. Several incidents of personal experiences were noted (highlights explained below in ‘Anecdotal Experiences’) and the investigation concluded at approximately 1:45am.

Twice Michael felt as though he was holding hands with a small child. Once at the beginning doing a walk-thru of the west sunroom and again later on into the investigation while doing some tri-field meter work w/ Scott.

Twice Matthew had his arm touched and had his shirt tugged on while in Ward 1 (now a bedroom). He also had the feeling of someone watching and not wanting him to enter the hallway near the bathrooms at one point during the investigation. He heard wheezing coming from the bathroom area and just got an uneasy feeling, so turned back to the procedure room area.

While in Ward 1 w/ Kevin, Colette heard a male voice say ‘Go’ right next to her as she sat on the beds edge near the clock radio.

Sitting in the west sunroom at one point, Matthew felt a pain in his right lung area.

The feeling of anger/hatred was something Michael mentioned coming from the hallway bathroom area. Felt as though it was pushing out towards him so he turned towards this feeling and gave a mean face and mentally pushed back, the feeling immediately lifted.

Evidence DVD: a DVD of the significant video and audio evidence was presented to the owner.

Conclusion: Considering the volume of personal experiences, audio and visual evidence gained during this investigation, the Rock Creek Sanatorium is definitely a hotspot of paranormal activity. It was a pleasure investigating such a wonderful place with such rich history and it would be a joy to conduct another investigation in the future!
